Becoming a Member

At the Recovery Republic, the first point of contact for anyone visiting the centre is a Support Team Member.

The team member will conduct an initial assessment of the person's needs and complete a registration form, which is commonly known as Social Prescribing. During this process, the Support Team Member will explain the benefits of becoming a member of the Recovery Republic.

Being a member of the Recovery Republic comes with several advantages, such as priority access to courses, groups, activities and organised trips.

Members also enjoy subsidised food and refreshments, which are available at the large refectory on the ground floor. By becoming a member, people can feel a greater sense of belonging to the community and access the support they need to recover.

Moreover, anyone who wishes to volunteer at the Recovery Republic must first become a member. This is because volunteers play an important role in supporting the activities and courses offered at the centre. They may help with activities, lead groups or courses, or simply provide companionship to other members. Becoming a member is, therefore, a crucial step towards becoming a volunteer at the Recovery Republic.

"The thing that differentiates Recovery Republic from other services is the way support is offered. I can meet with my support worker whenever I have an issue to deal with, and she is always at the end of the phone. I am also safe in the knowledge that support will be around for as long as I need it. But it goes deeper than that, and I would feel comfortable speaking with any of the workers."
